Film Trailor Analysis (The Call)

The Call
The call is the film trailer being analysed.
My first general emotion was a concerned one causing a sense of foreboding and dread. The trailor uses voices, sound and actions to create this, through the trailor I saw a man hunting down a girl to kidnap her and glasses were smashed and the house was turned upside down in search for her causing tension, when fount, the music played evoked the emotion of fear and shock and immediately grabbed my attention. The serial killer within this trailor also repetitively mutters the words to an officer on the phone in a vindictive voice "its already done" and with this it tells me immediately that something has taken place which is not good in the slightest. This is effective as the short phrase used repetitively can help the audience infer that the Killer has done something drastic and it rings in the viewers ears and makes them realise that when that is said, something drastic has occured.

From watching the trailor, I can see that it is about a Serial killer who kidnaps victims and mutters the words "its already done" when he kills them, one victim notified the a police officer on the fone but was fount dead and she blamed herself for it, another victim calls saying she has been abducted in a boot of a car and she takes it upon herself to help her by telling her to describe where she thinks she is being driven and she responds saying freeway, she then kicks the tail light out as commanded by the officer waving her hand through it trying to attact attention, someone notices her in a boot at a petrol station but the serial killer soaks him in petrol and sets him alight pushing her back into the trunk. The officer comes into contact with the Serial killer with a phone call and she says to him "do not hurt that little girl, you don't have to do this" he replies saying "its already done" which is where the officer notices it is the same man from the first killing of the other girl. Then clips are shown of a citizen calling the police but being stopped by being attacked by the killer and Armed police trooping towards a house where they believe the victim and killer are situated.

Effectiveness of this trailor:
1. Trailor is effective through the speech used and the repetition of the killer's words "Its already done" engaging the audience allowing them to realise the danger of what may happen or what has happened.
2.The use of the telephone ringtone giving away the victim's hiding position. Sound was used effectively in which the audience was also intrigued by another device. Great idea and was used to great effect.
3.There is a shot of the female Police officer and the killer making eye contact when she is in hiding but then it drastically changes to her attacking him and this gives the public an incentive to go and watch this film as they would want to know what happened when he looked in her direction and what happened in between the scene she is attacking him.
